Long time well-posedness of Whitham–Boussinesq systems

Abstract Consideration is given to three different full dispersion Boussinesq systems arising as asymptotic models in the bi-directional propagation of weakly nonlinear surface waves shallow water. We prove that, under a non-cavitation condition on initial data, these are well-posed time scale order O ( 1 ε stretchy="false">) , where ɛ small parameter measuring weak nonlinearity waves. For one systems, this result new even for short time. The two other involve tension, and them, has be sharpened when tension small. proof relies suitable symmetrizers classical theory hyperbolic systems. However, we have track parameters carefully commutator estimates get long well-posedness. Finally, combining our results with recent ones Emerald provide justification water wave larger range regimes than ( b c d )-Boussinesq
